It would appear that contrary to popular reviews, the retro has been worked out of this place - save for the two old guys in the back still slinging beef and fry baskets. The 60's wood panneling is long gone and has been brought into the future with very bright playful colours and a clear modernized menu - the place really looks great, but still pays homage to the original institution which has owned this corner for over 50 years!
There are 5 parking spots, my bad should have walked over or taken transit, and it's a near accident to get in or out of those spots. The vacant land behind should just charge meter parking for Dairy Freeze they would make a killing here.
They said have a steak on a kaiser, so I had a steak on kaiser. Thin steak, good eating for in a sandwich, not chewy at all and good fast so the juices are still running. DROOOL! The sandwich toppings station is set up a lot like Harveys right down to the semi-circle of toppings in stainless steel bowls and mustard served with a weird spoon-spatula fusion - I wonder who did it first?
Sandwich was legit. No frills, blue collar but delicious, I would have easily eaten a double meat if they offered it but regular was great. They make their own in house steak sauce and they're kinda stingy with it, I had to say more like 4 times to get even a little bit, so it's either pricy or they're trying to make that one bowl last.
Really enjoyed and look forward to coming back for old school burgers, poutine and a shake!

Eating out gets you more, so in warmer weather you can just eat at a park bench across the street in earlscourt park.

Parking is limited!
The seats are super cool here - very retro. The menu is a classic mix of diner selects. Steak on a Kaiser, burgers, milkshakes, etc!
The ladies weren't nice but they weren't rude. Very average service feel. They do accept card - I used Visa.
I noticed that the milkshakes had different fruit flavours, besides strawberry, like cherry. Oddly enough, I've never had one of that flavour before, and I feel like I don't normally see that flavour available either... I'm definitely going to try that out next time.
I'm surprised at how clean this place is too. All the tables were wiped down, ketchup/vinegar bottles were as clean as they could be and organized, and the women's washroom was recently cleaned.
We got burgers, fries and onion rings! The onion rings were heavier than I thought they would be. They're battered like fish! The fries were fat and soft - MY FAVE! The burgers weren't crazy good, but they were what I expected. I liked how all the toppings looked fresh - lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, etc. -

The new design is nice, but,
Their prices are way to high for the food they're serving it's nothing special,
I just paid $30 for soggy 2 pieces of halibut(halbit that you know you can buy cheap and frozen from nofrills or walmart),
1 overcooked hot dog & basic poutine & nestea.
Could easily make this at home & way yummier, when I go out to eat I'm looking for the opposite I don't wanna be able to make it at home, or if I can at least taste just as good not worst cause that's when you know what you're serving is crap.
The only time I'd come here from now on is of in super drunk and won't remember what I'm eating / spending my money on since it's close to home, this is the spot otherwise stay away not worth it. -

The remodel has made this place lose its old school charm of a dive place to grab greasy food. And the food isssss greasy! Never again.
